Extending your residence permit
Extending your permit means obtaining acknowledgement of receipt (a “provisional permit”) allowing you to stay in France for an extra few weeks, up to a maximum of 4 months.
You can request this acknowledgement of receipt if:
- you have an internship agreement in France or abroad that runs until after the expiry of your residence permit, and you have not been able to obtain an appointment to renew your permit before the date on which your residence permit expires. You can request acknowledgement of receipt of an application to renew your permit to complete your studies or internship.
- you are due to sit exams or defend a thesis after the date on which your residence permit expires.
Documents to bring to the appointment
You need to fill in the end-of-studies acknowledgement of receipt request form and append the documents required (originals and photocopies).
Bring these documents to the Reception-Welcome Desk (no appointment required) from Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 12 PM and 1.30 PM to 3 PM.
