Four short films from the silent era of fantastic cinema will be presented :
- A Trip to the Moon – Georges Méliès (France, 1902, 14 min)
- The Electric Hotel (El hotel eléctrico) – Segundo de Chomón (France, 1908, 9 min)
- The Madness of Doctor Tube – Abel Gance (France, 1915, 14 min)
- The Haunted House – Edward F. Cline et Buster Keaton (États-Unis, 1921, 21 min)
These films showcase the inventiveness of early cinema pioneers, who were already exploring themes of the supernatural, visual illusion, and the first special effects.
Concert segment : Emily Mener
Musician Emily Mener accompanies these films with an original score blending electronic instruments and a variety of sound textures. Her setup combines analog and digital keyboards, drum machines, loop pedals, and theremin, creating a musical interpretation that interacts with the images while highlighting their poetic and experimental dimensions.
